Tuition - Sacred Heart School
Financial Commitment
The staff of Sacred Heart School is committed to doing its best to enrich
the lives of all students by helping each child develop through spiritual,
moral, intellectual, social, cultural, and physical growth. In an attempt to
try to keep SHS costs minimal and in view of the fact that the cost of educating
a child is considerably more than the current tuition, SHS must have the participation
of its families throughout the year. Below is outlined the commitment needed
of SHS families for the coming year. Please read this information and make
the decision to do your part.

PTC Fundraising
The Parent/Teacher Council (PTC) is charged with earning a part of our operating
budget and is another way that SHS keeps its tuition expense affordable. Therefore,
all are required to take an active part in these events.
1st is
a sale (Room Make-over Giveaway) in the fall.
2nd Casino Night is the last Saturday in January
Families have two options:
Parents/Guardians participate in all fundraising events each year.
(There are usually no more than 2-3.)
OR
Parents/Guardians pay $250 in lieu of fundraising participation
( by the first day of school).
Parent/Guardian Volunteer Commitment
All families enrolled in SHS benefit from the tremendous financial assistance
that our parish organizations provide through their volunteer efforts. The
tuition of each student at Sacred Heart School is reduced by approximately
$500 yearly as a result of their fundraising efforts. These parish organizations
need help in continuing their service. Therefore, all families are required
to work a minimum of 25 hours per year in assisting these organizations:
- Knights of Columbus BINGO’s are held in the KC
Parish Hall one block south of the school on Sunday evenings from Labor Day
weekend through Memorial Day weekend. Help is needed in running the concession
stand from 5:15-8pm. BINGO starts at 7 and is over by 9pm.
- Castaways is a resale shop located three blocks from
the school. SHC Gregory Ladies staff the shop each Saturday from 7am-3pm.
They need help in putting merchandise out on the shelves, helping customers,
and serving as cashier. Any number of hours per day is helpful. Helpers may
also work at Gregory Hall on Tuesday and/or Thursday mornings from 8am-12Noon.
- Volunteering in the school, families may help teachers or the office personnel,
but the lunchroom cook needs help serving from 10:30am-12:30pm. Families
are asked to help her at least one day per year for every child they have
enrolled.
- Aluminum cans are recycled by SHS children and our parish in order to
protect our environment and to earn cash for field trips. Students are asked
to bring their cans rinsed, drained, and bagged. At least once a month, the
cans need to be gathered and hauled to the Can Recycling Center. This service
is also a volunteer job.
If a family chooses not to volunteer their time in any of the above areas,
they may take the Cash Option and pay $400 to SHS in lieu of services rendered.
